If you are interested in hiring a management consultant for your business or project and want to learn more about our management consulting services, please contact us today. Supply Chain Logistics Consulting is a professional management consulting practice with years of experience in helping people at companies like yours to achieve positive results.

Origin Story: S&Co., Supply Chain Logistics Consulting Inc.

Read about the origin of the firm and events surrounding the company’s initial years. This is a brief summary of the environment from the first glimmer of an idea to the current moment in time.

Special Anniversary Edition.

Idea to Inception

Supply Chain Logistics Consulting began as an idea and grew into a movement towards an entity with its own purpose. In 2014 the conversation around developing a service to support the industry started to take shape and by 2017 the journey was underway. Forging a path into an offer for services that would facilitate businesses with their operational processes and implementing the practices that connect resilient sourcing strategies and sustainable procurement throughout the structure of an organization.

Rocked by Disruption

The momentum behind the firm’s development incentive to form a strategic supply chain management and business development consulting services company was accelerated by the unprecedented global disruptions impacting material value chains in recent years. As the world awakened to the startling fact that there was a pressing need for 1.    greater stability in food, commodity, and medical supply chains, 2.    global logistics continuity, coordination, and reliability, 3.    intellectual property protections, and technical security, 4.    reinforcement of underdeveloped and critically important value chains. By 2019 real concern for supply chain management development at a globalized scale began to take center stage. This continued through years of impacts from forces outside of an individual company or government’s control and the tide turned in favor of rapid industrial investment, friend-shoring and reshoring, revisions to fiscal policy, and new political pressures.

Deep Roots Hold Firms

To put things in perspective, national governments have given new importance to active participation in the development of international relations to protect the institution of democracy while a real threat exists in any economic rebalancing of power and new advances in artificial intelligence bring related challenges. The company’s origins took root in a logistical understanding of the movement of goods, information, and materials through various stages in delivering value to the end-customer. It was further formed by the need for a better application of supply chain management practices observed in industry and statistically shown by underinvestment in regional factors like advanced technologies with skilled labour.

Global Priorities

Preceding the onset of the pandemic, the obvious environmental concerns that require massive procedural change warranted greater attention be paid to supply chain management. In this, sustainable procurement strategies are highly relevant and will be used to shape innovation through the spending by NGO’s (non-government organizations), large international corporations, and government, where their procurement policies simultaneously provide opportunities to test the viability of new ideas and technologies at a scale. The importance of supply chain management policy and best practices for business development was further clarified in the hardship created by the global disaster, a pandemic which occurred at an unpredictable scale and had unforeseen impacts on every facet of life. What followed was a conversation about global supply chains, de-risking strategically, and industrial policy. The conversation that started carries through into today’s priorities for governance and economic consideration by all involved.

Why This Matters

For Supply Chain Logistics Consulting, we know that each entrepreneur, small business owner, and divisional or functional manager shares the challenges of a large enterprise corporation or an executive level Chief Executive Officer. Decisions made when developing processes and procedures also have risks and rewards with variations in what factors to consider and how great of an impact the decision may have. Selecting products and services needed for success requires information, support, and strategic direction. Small initiatives can provide business owners and organizations with a measure of resilience which in turn could prove to be the difference between evolution and extinction.

Conclusion:

At Supply Chain Logistics Consulting, we share what we know, facilitate others to execute strategically, and inform the industry about current events, business operations, and strategy that relates to supply chain management and business development. We currently offer an achievable and affordable management consulting service for companies that contributes to the economic growth and resilience of North American companies.
